Davis Wright Tremaine LLP selects nScaled for global disaster recovery, backup and high availability services

Posted on 01/03/2011 by Dan Brown in TheKnowList News No Comments

Eleven data centers to be continuously replicated into the nScaled cloud The nScaled solution includes the deployment of eleven ‘MicroPod’ cloud appliance devices within each of the firms’ global office locations, onsite installation of software, redundant high speed connectivity to the nScaled Dallas facility and continuous replication of workloads and data. Once implementation is complete, Davis Wright will be able to recover any single failed system within fifteen minutes or less as well as restoring entire data centers from larger regional disasters within hours.

“As part of an overall project to modernize IT, the firm has significantly upgraded its recovery time objectives for core systems.” said Matthew Beland, Network Manager of Davis Wright. “We selected nScaled to provide disaster recovery, backup and high availability because of the completeness of their solution, speed at which we can implement including the replication of significant data volumes and workloads, and their proven track record in the market.”

The firm will be protecting both physical and virtual servers from failure, as well as replicating upwards of 40 terabytes’ of data to both locally deployed mirror servers (MicroPods) and across wide area network links to a central nScaled data center facility. In order to reduce the implementation timeline, physical servers will be shipped during the initial phases of the project for LAN based replication. Beyond disaster recovery, the service is inclusive of backup and high availability of all systems and data.

“We are delighted to have been selected by Davis Wright for this critical business service.” said Mark Hadfield, CEO of nScaled “Their selection of nScaled is further validation of our belief that elastic cloud services have tremendous potential benefit for traditional IT functions beyond the simple deployment of web based applications into public clouds. We are now seeing organizations large and small making the move to elastic infrastructure with economic and functional impact on the entire data center.”

nScaled serves clients from multiple industries including legal, financial services, education and others. Clients range from single office locations with tens of employees, to multinational organizations with thousands. Data centers are available in Dallas, Chicago, and London and the company has plans for further expansion over the coming year.

th February 2011 ─ nScaled announced today that Davis Wright Tremaine LLP – a leading law firm with more than 500 attorneys working from nine offices throughout the United States and in Shanghai – has selected the company to provide disaster recovery, backup and high availability services to protect the firms’ global infrastructure. The decision was made after a rigorous selection process by the firms’ internal IT team and executive committee, and as part of an ongoing effort to centralize and modernize IT systems and capabilities worldwide.
