KnowYourExperts will be launched in partnership with OpenText in September exclusively for guests of KnowLegal

Posted on 18/08/2011 by TheKnowList in TheKnowList News No Comments

KNOWYourExpertKnowYourExperts is a new initiative from TheKnowList in partnership with OpenText to provide the legal community with free open access to the OpenText Social Workplace platform.

KnowYourExperts will be launched at the KnowLegal forum in September and will provide the delegates of KnowLegal and their respective firms with the opportunity to utilise unrestricted access to powerful social workplace collaboration tools and the opportunity to develop internal and external expert communities for their colleagues and peers.

KnowYourExperts was developed following discussions with IT Directors wishing to understand the value of social workplace technologies for their firms while also having access to expert resources from across the legal community. While we are all familiar with networking sites such as LinkedIn and Facebook their value has been questioned generally for being too broad, unfocused and for offering no means through which to deploy the technology internally in a focused way.

Initially access to KnowYourExperts will be exclusively for guests of KnowLegal in September and for members of their respective firms who will be given a firm wide access licence to use the social workplace platform and to start to develop their own communities. Guests of KnowLegal will also have the right to grant access to members of their peer group as they see fit.

TheKnowList will be working with professionals across the legal community to create expert groups that will provide valuable accessible knowledge and resources such as product specific expert panels, groups looking at best practice and groups providing expert knowledge and information for the benefit of the wider legal community. Expert panels will also be developed to encourage active debate and collaboration across the community.

The OpenText Social Workplace is an extremely powerful platform that will provide the legal community with a fantastic opportunity to understand how these tools can work for their respective firms.

Iain Jones, Director of eDOCS & Legal Solutions EMEA at OpenText says: “OpenText is excited about this opportunity to work with TheKnowList and provide one of a number of social media solutions. We want to provide an effective environment for all law practices attending KnowLegal, to be able to leverage the collaborative power of popular Web 2.0 social networking tools.”

TheKnowList welcomes the relationship with companies such as OpenText who can provide the legal community with tools that can actively facilitate industry innovation and the development of communication, collaboration and ultimately new ways for us to work effectively.

Daniel Brown, CEO at TheKnowList says: “The relationship with OpenText is vital in providing the legal community with tools that can actively facilitate industry innovation, communication and collaboration. Ultimately, we are looking for new ways for the legal technology sector to work effectively.”
